an august return to the big shoulders

williwaw brings that most particular blend of amplified 'ukulele histrionics to Chicago on Friday, the 22nd of August 2014 at saki records, 3716 W. Fullerton Ave. The sonic brew begins to stir at 6 pm sharp.

the start (and probable end) of the williwaw allotments tour

the first third of the hour-long battery-powered williwaw din within the allotment housing of Mister O'Neill on the eve of the summer solstice, 21 june 2014. if you've gotten this far, these caveats are self-evident, but nevertheless: our comrade doesn't move much, making this visual footage border on a still image and our comrade continues to play kraftwerk songs.

a(nother) summer of amp'd uke love

williwaw vs. asphalt

...it wasn't the most thrilling accompaniment, but afterwards, someone asked if it was available anywhere. so here it is, in all it's impromptu, lo-fi splendour.

...and if you prefer your videos from another source, well, it's a banner day for accommodating requests here at williwaw HQ.

the next second sunday is extraneously special

the next episode of the second sunday sipping sounds series at the Old Hairdo, 27 Renfield Lane, will consist not only of the overlong overtures to stasis and decline one has come to know, love and yes, even expect from williwaw, but a bit of delightful duetting with comrade jamie bolland (of tut vu vu and jacob yates fame) on the heels of their work in J. Simon Van Der Walt's Why Scotland, Why East Kilbride sonic theatre adventure in July. a bit o' the air-driven organ-key tinkling to go along with the usual amp'd uke mayhem

random sound cavalcade #33

a quartet of excerpts of the same laborious material from the most recent episode of the second sunday sipping sounds series at the old hairdressers. why listen to them one at a time when you can play them all at the same or slightly different times? think of the time you'll save - such efficiency! think of the sweet raucous din that you, yes you, can create on your very own - fun!

the second coming of the SSSSS

the sibilance parade continues with the second episode of the Second Sunday Sipping Sounds Series on 11. November, 2012. Same place - the Old Hairdressers, 27 Renfield Lane - at the same time - 8 pm - with the amp'd 'ukulele malarkey.

all saturday, all amp'd uke

this just in

our shaggy ol' comrade williwaw will be providing a day of sonic dabbling to accompany the many fine paintings of Laura A Hunter...

...currently hanging 'round Iota Gallery in Hyndland Street on that seemingly teeming paradise, Glasgow's West End. And that day will be this Saturday, the 15th of October, and that day will be all manner of hours between 10 and 5.

(actual times may vary, consult your local physician to see what amp'd uke dosage is best for you)

11 October 2011

the third o' november

The rough hewn stone walls of The Chalet once again play host to our beloved comrade williwaw on the third of november with the local sonic luminary peter nicholson performing solo and possibly tandem. Rumours abuzz that others may join in the evening, including the ever elusive w. owen brimijoin.

C'mon doun the lane (18 Dixon Avenue) and join in the chant, a'ight?

29 May 2011

you play the waterfront, i'll play the closet

evidence has been unearthed of the last williwaw activity inside the bare-stone-wall confines of The Chalet - will our comrade retreat into what appears to be a closet for the amp'd uke antics on 18. June 2011? Only time, space and the so-called third dimension know for sure.

10 July 2010

two signs of sputtering life

first we see our comrade williwaw first battling a motley horde of stools and chairs in the middle of its first and only set in june...

and then we find that loveable scamp williwaw in the usual hunched position battling the rising din at the end of its third and last set in july...

12 June 2010

the pace continues, ongoing slowly

spreading more amplified love, our comrade williwaw returns to the comforting confines of the go slow cafe, 452 victoria road, glasgow on the second of july, this very year of two-thousand-and-change. the night will also feature the unveiling - opening, if you will, of new visual works by simon harlow.
